The artist embodies herself in the lily flower, drawn to its inherent feminine qualities. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, the lily also represents the masculine, as it is often used as a symbol of harnessed power. Even as the petals fall and the flower fades, the artist cannot bear to part with it, perhaps echoing the youth that has passed; The condoms represent stepping into adulthood. The leather wrapping around the bouquet symbolizes the toxic masculinity that the artist feels bound by. Through this seemingly contradictory still life, the artist invites us to explore the complex and sometimes painful relationships we have with our own identities.
